John Hamblin
Owner, Master Builder
The captain of the JHC ship. Originating from the UK john boasts 25 years of industry experience working around the globe including the uk, France and Australia finally settling here in Aotearoa. John has two young children and is rarely seen without his two blue heelers. In his spare time John can often be found at the beach surfing with his kids or on two wheels on the forest trails.

Director / Project Manager
I’m the founder and director of JHC, originally from the UK with over 25 years of building experience across the UK, France, Australia, and now New Zealand. My passion for surf and snow brought me to NZ, and I’ve never looked back.
These days, I’m proud to call this place home with my two kids and two energetic Blue Heelers. When I’m not managing projects, you’ll find me at the beach or out on the Rotorua trails.
At JHC, I’m all about clear communication, quality craftsmanship, and making the building process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible for our clients.
James
Foreman
James is one of our standout foremen and a recent new dad. With a strong background in rugby, he now channels that energy into his building work and weekend bush adventures. When he's not leading the team onsite, James is hard at work on his own home renovations—proving his passion for building never switches off.
James
James is one of our superstar foreman and the latest member of the team to enter fatherhood. With a history on the rugby field these days he enjoys to be in the bush in his free time or working hard on his own renovations.

Our other leading team member is Jan, our South African powerhouse operated a can do attitude. With over decade in new Zealand he is partial to a spot of fishing after work.

Originally from South Africa, Jan is a powerhouse on the tools and leads with a no-nonsense, can-do attitude. With over a decade of building experience in New Zealand, Jan is known for his precision, reliability, and love for a post-work fishing session. His calm, capable approach makes him a true asset to the JHC team.
Charlie
Apprentice
Charlie is one of our rising stars. Young, motivated, and reliable, he's passionate about learning the trade and committed to a future in building. When he's not on-site, you’ll likely find Charlie working on his camper van conversion or hitting the road for weekend adventures around the country.

Charlie is one of our young and reliable apprentices. A great example for the future of this industry with his desire for knowledge and passion for the trade. Charlie is currently converting his van to camp in as he loves a weekend road trip around the country to catchup with his mates.
Ben
ben is the newest addition to the team. Ben emits enthusiasm with evey task he's given. Fair to say only surpassed by his love for being on the water. Ben can be spotted most weekends off shore from Maketu on his boat.

The newest member of our crew, Ben brings boundless enthusiasm and energy to every task. He’s quick to learn, eager to help, and always keen for a challenge. When the weekend arrives, Ben can usually be found offshore from Maketu on his boat, making the most of his love for the water.
